“Playback” reminisces about the “good days” of a time in life when everything felt right, in place and at peace - whether it be with a relationship, a memory, a place, or a feeling.

Naturally, as we grow older we tend to re-live moments of the past, usually when we feel lost or confused with the present and future. Life gets complicated, and we long for simplicity - a time when things were just good because they were. No explanation needed.

Throughout the song, the main metaphor refers to continually playing back an old tune to re-live an old moment or feeling that it once brought.
